The Yellow Vulture
Ministerial launch of controversial SPECS driver speed monitoring system
An extremely sensitive, multi-party Government, police and road safety NGO project where founder Pamela Bailey devised and rolled out the full community and media communications strategy for Scotland’s Minister of Transport to launch this highly-controversial traffic management system, intended to reduce driver casualties along a highway plagued by fatal traffic accidents.
The highly- inclusive approach involved a program of two-way discussions encompassing private and public sector briefings – taking in Transport Scotland, UK and international media, multiple stakeholders’ communications teams and Ministerial advisors, area and regional law enforcement, automobile associations, road safety campaign groups, area MPs, MEPs and members of local / regional / national assemblies, community associations and lobby groups.
The media launch, with its resulting positive media coverage, was described by the Minister of Transport as the best ever.
Most importantly, however several years on fatalities along the route continue to have been significantly reduced.
