Armitage Associates: specialized in creating high-quality, respectful long-term residential care

Founder Pamela Bailey was retained to help raise the media, heath sector management and public profile of this niche UK architectural and interior design practice, which specializes in creating high-quality, respectful long-term residential care and mainstream healthcare facilities carefully crafted to simultaneously support medical staff and promote patient wellbeing.
Example designs include a residential care home for Alzheimer patients featuring light and airy interiors with subtle use of subdued colour, as well an atrium visible from the interior through long curving, glass-walled corridors. Throughout the building interior and enclosed gardens, sharp corners were banished allowing patients clear line-of-sight from all angles thus minimizing the potential for patient anxiety or disorientation.
Media coverage was also secured in business, healthcare management and lifestyle media for Armitage Associates’ creation of a fully-functioning ‘Medicinema’ movie theatre, from a former operating theatre, in one of Scotland’s busiest children’s hospitals: the Royal Hospital for Sick Children (Yorkhill).
